"projectDescription": "Naples, Florida is a highly urbanized low-lying coastal city with extensive infrastructure vulnerable to coastal zone pressures such as extreme high tides and storm surges. The City of Naples will restore 3.6 acres of oyster reefs, increasing coastal resiliency by protecting a mangrove shoreline from storm surge, helping to alleviate storm and flooding effects, and restoring vital oyster habitat at two sites in Naples Bay. The project will take place in two phases: Phase 1 will restore over three acres of oyster reefs in the southern portion of Naples Bay and Phase 2 will restore oyster reefs at a second smaller area in the more northern part of the bay near Rock Creek. Oyster reef restoration will not only protect the mangrove fringe and attenuate flooding and storm surge effects in the bay, but also will allow for seagrass bed expansion through the creation of suitable protected habitat.",
