  "projectDescription": "The Little North Fork (LNF) Big River Instream Wood Enhancement Project introduced 44 pieces of large wood at 22 structures along one mile of priority core recovery habitat for Central California Coast (CCC) coho salmon (a NOAA Species in the Spotlight) and Northern California (NC) steelhead trout. This increased stream geomorphic complexity and shelter values while simultaneously improving pool frequency and depth. This effort will help maintain the geographic distribution of coho salmon in a system with historically strong populations of coho salmon and identified biological refugia. This project is located on California Department of Parks and Recreation property on the LNF Big River, tributary to the Big River, which drains to the Pacific Ocean in Mendocino, CA. Funds from the NOAA Restoration Center supported previous planning activities. Implementation of this project occurred July through August 2018.",
