  "projectDescription": "This project analyzed the socio-economic impacts of habitat restoration at the Muskegon Lake AOC on the surrounding community. Project elements included an update of the hedonic and travel cost studies done in 2010 by Grand Valley State University (GVSU). This built on that work to provide updated estimates of the ecosystem services value of recreation, habitat, and aesthetics. The travel cost survey elicited individual information regarding recreational trip length, purpose (primary recreation activity), frequency of visits to different sites on Muskegon Lake, trip expenses, and demographic information. The expectation was that (survey) users would have a more informed view of the changes after several years had passed, leading to improved information about the value of use. Results from this work validated the 2011 published report from GVSU.",
