"projectDescription": "The Upper Olds Creek Instream Wood Project introduced 117 pieces of large wood at 49 unique sites along 1.13 miles of priority core recovery habitat for Central California Coast (CCC) coho salmon (a NOAA Species in the Spotlight) and steelhead trout. This project is located on private timber company land on Olds Creek, a tributary to the Noyo River, which drains to the Pacific Ocean in Fort Bragg, CA. These efforts increase stream complexity and improve habitat for juvenile and migrating fish, as well help sort gravels for spawning adults. The goal is to maintain coho salmon in a system where historically there were strong populations of these fish. California Department of Fish and Wildlife stream habitat data, The CCC Coho Recovery Plan and NMFS Multispecies Recovery Plan were referenced to determine the need for wood within this stream. This project will extend previous TU/NOAA partnership efforts to improve passage and increase habitat complexity in Olds Creek.",
