The Pescadero Creek watershed including its major tributary, Butano Creek, has historically supported federally endangered Central California Coast (CCC) coho salmon, a NOAA Species in the Spotlight, as well as robust runs of threatened CCC steelhead trout. This water storage and conservation project directly benefits salmonids through reduction of diversion rates during a critical streamflow period in Pescadero Creek.",
