"projectDescription": "The Stillaguamish Tribe is reconnecting tidal and riverine influence on 230 acres of tidal wetlands between Hatt Slough and the Old Stillaguamish Mainstem in the Stillaguamish River Delta. Restoration actions include the demolition of infrastructure (shops, barn, mobile homes, and office buildings), dike removal and setback, blind tidal and distributary channel excavation and connection. This project is immediately adjacent to The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) Port Susan Bay Restoration Project. These projects represent a significant step towards habitat recovery in the South Whidbey Basin; together these projects have the potential to bring the restored area of the Stillaguamish River Delta to over 700 acres. Genetic data taken from juvenile Chinook salmon indicate that all Whidbey Basin Chinook stocks utilize the Stillaguamish Delta.",
