  "projectDescription": "The overall 10 year goal of this project was to increase successful breeding of Western and Clark's grebes to mitigate direct losses experienced by these species due to oil spills. This work included outreach and public education primarily during the summer nesting season and a significant effort to monitor each year's breeding success in the lake colonies. As part of this effort, the chapters also worked to limit human disturbance and impacts to these colonies to increase nesting success. Successful completion of this grant period and ten years of partnership with NFWF, NOAA, the Luckenbach Trustee Council,  Redbud Audubon, Altacal Audubon and Plumas Audubon advanced grebe conservation and science. In addition it generated broader understanding and appreciation within the National Audubon Society of the importance of these species and the power of sustained chapter engagement on conservation and science.",
