"projectDescription": "This project is enhancing the resiliency of coastal ecosystems through a holistic watershed-based approach by implementing 26 restoration actions in the Wahikuli watershed. The BMPs use plants and hydrological flow alterations to slow, filter, and sink polluted stormwater. The actions include vetiver and native plant sediment capture and stream water filtration systems; vetiver half-moons/eyebrows inter-planted with native species to stabilize sediment; re-establishment of lo'i kalo to trap sediment, uptake nutrients, and allow artisanal taro production; and dirt road decommissioning using rocks and/or vetiver and native species. The project is also engaging with a range of partners and volunteers.",
