  "projectDescription": "Eelgrass transplants for COSCO Busan DARP were initiated in 2014, 2015, and 2016. Transplants were postponed in 2017 due to flooding impacts. Low to salinities  during the spring  caused considerable eelgrass dieback in both transplants and donor locations.  In 2018, eelgrass transplants  were again postponed.   The total transplanted eelgrass for the three transplant years has been 9.4 acres.  This has been concentrated in San Rafael Bay, Corte Madera Bay, and Richardson Bay.  Richardson Bay has performed best due steady increases in area even while sites in San Rafael Bay declined precipitously with the freshwater impact of 2017 and subsequently recovered somewhat, but not completely in 2017 and 2018.  The spatial distribution of eelgrass transplants have reached a peak of 8.45 acres.  The transplanted eelgrass in Richardson Bay was also used as spawning substrate by herring in 2017‐2018.   This was the first record of the recent transplants being used by herring.   Eelgrass transplanting and monitoring is ongoing until 2022.",
