  "projectDescription": "The North Carolina Coastal Federation partnered with The Nature Conservancy to build a 400-foot living shoreline at the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge in the Albemarle-Pasquotank Basin. Shoreline reef was comprised of Class C marl sills, and was extended from an existing 200-foot reef that was placed to halt erosion at a plugged ditch. The project created 0.18 acres of habitat for eastern oysters, and addressed the following objectives: prevent additional loss of salt marsh; restore fish habitat; and provide benefits to water quality.",
