  "projectDescription": "The Indian River Lagoon Impoundment Reconnection and Restoration project was implemented within the Indian River Lagoon Preserve State Park in Brevard County, Florida.  The project reconnected impounded marshes completely enclosed by a series of dikes originally created for mosquito control. The 15-acre impoundment area had an exterior dike, an interior dike, and a dike/ditch system along its upland edge. This project removed the interior dike to restore wetland area and the upland dike to allow a more natural upland transition recreating a path for the “up slope” migration of the wetland with sea level rise. The transitional area was also planted.  Project began construction in summer of 2016.",
