"projectDescription": "This is a project to develop design plans to remedy an instream head-cut barrier that is preventing coho salmon access to 0.6 miles of habitat in the Noyo River, in Mendocino County, California. Channel geomorphology and limited exposures along the channel banks suggest a significant portion of the stream channel has experienced unnatural aggradation in its recent (30-80 years) past. At the stream’s confluence there is a 6-foot deep headcut in the channel that is acting as an adult and juvenile fish migration barrier. This site was identified in a 2012 study carried out by Trout Unlimited and partners as a high priority restoration site for California Coho Salmon recovery. This project was completed as an LWD project and is reported in RCDB #4633.",
