  "projectDescription": "Lower Klamath River sub-basin habitats have been identified as important sites for the recovery of multiple Klamath Basin fish populations, including fall run chinook salmon managed under the MSA, and coho salmon that are listed under the ESA. A 2013 Coastal and Marine Habitat Restoration Project with the Yurok Tribal Fisheries Program focused on the restoration of two sites within this watershed, in Terwer and Hunter Creeks. The project focused on habitat limitations that hindered the survival of native fish of the Klamath River, specifically the loss of habitat complexity, channel structure, and streamside forests. The project team enhanced habitat in the creeks by installing 59 constructed wood jams (6.4 acres of instream habitat) and improving an additional nearly 10 acres of riparian habitat by planting native trees and numerous native willow baffles. Restoration actions were developed to promote natural processes and physical habitat features lost as a result of historic land use practices and are expected to provide immediate and long-term benefits to Tribal Trust fish and wildlife, including chinook, coho, steelhead, cutthroat salmonids. In addition, habitat restoration will help facilitate long-term economic stimulus to disadvantaged communities.",
