This project compensated for losses that occurred on 26 November 2004 when the M/T Athos I (Athos) struck a large, submerged anchor and discharged of more than 263,000 gallons of crude oil into the Delaware River and nearby tributaries.  Oyster reefs in the Delaware River compensated for injuries to aquatic resources, diving birds, and gulls.",
