  "projectDescription": "The proposed project aims to quantify the effects of land use on water quality over restored oyster reefs.  The project's focus will be on establishing a monitoring community to track the fate of nutrients across the watershed; developing continuous data standards across fresh water, ground water, terrestrial, and tidal monitoring stations; deploying sensors in tributaries where oyster restoration is underway and linking the results to those recorded further up the watershed.  Despite the tremendous investment in oyster restoration and the intensive study and mitigation on land, uncertainty remains regarding the level of risk posed by various land use patterns to these projects. This monitoring pilot study seeks to go beyond model projections and follow the fate of nutrients from parking lots and farm fields to the water column that sustains restored oysters in the Choptank Complex. This will allow the impact of land based best management practices to be measured where they matter most, over the oyster reefs of the Chesapeake Bay.",
