  "projectDescription": "This project eliminated a dry season water diversion on the mainstem of Dutch Bill Creek by implementing water conservation measures and constructing off-channel water storage. This riparian diversion irrigated playing fields and other grass areas at a summer camp, and was estimated to extract up to four acre-feet of water from the creek each year. The diversion is located in a prime coho salmon spawning and rearing reach and was documented to cause periodic decreases in stream discharge of approximately 0.3 cfs, a rate which often exceeds the total surface discharge of the stream at the point of diversion. Irrigation water demand was reduced through the implementation of a suite of water conservation measures, including replacement of the existing playing field turf with more drought-tolerant grass species and installation of a more efficient irrigation system utilizing soil moisture sensors and smart controllers. Irrigation water will be supplied by springs currently used exclusively as a potable water source.",
