  "projectDescription": "Through this project, 5.4 acres of native plant buffer, 6.4 acres of emergent wetland, and 4.6 acres of open water wetland were restored for a total of 16.4 acres of habitat, and 6,025 linear feet of shoreline restoration. An aging water control structure was removed to reconnect the 9.3-acre south pond to the Muskegon River and replaced with a weir to allow passage for juvenile, adult and spawning fishes, open up water flow to the Muskegon River, and maintain the opportunity for control (and memorial protection) during periods of high water. The project also removed approximately 40,000 metric tons of fill.",
