  "projectDescription": "This project was a partnership in the Manell-Geus Habitat Focus Area to improve coral reef ecosystem health through the responsible use and management of coastal and marine resources in the Manell-Geus Watershed. Objectives were: 1. Prevent and reduce discharge of land-based pollutants, such as sediment and nutrients, to coral reef ecosystems. 2. Identify and implement management actions to increase coral reef health and resilience and mitigate localized climate change effects to coastal communities, coral reefs, and marine resources. 3. Build community and local capacity to manage coral reefs and coastal and marine resources. Four key activities were implemented (1) Conducted local early action planning to integrate climate vulnerability, (2) Established baseline ecological conditions through targeted surveys for coral reefs, seagrass beds, mangroves, and upland areas, (3) Conducted socioeconomic baseline monitoring to inform  management actions and shared with communities and partners, (4) Approved Survey Research Design by Guam Historic Preservation Office (GHPO) to conduct environmental and cultural resource surveys required for permits to implement watershed restoration projects for restoration.",
