  "projectDescription": "This proposal involved a fish passage project on the Kenai River that opened up 1.08 miles of tributary and 21,874.28 acres of wetlands as classified by the USFWS National Wetlands Inventory. The stream and wetlands are prime rearing habitat for juvenile coho and sockeye that spawn in downstream tributary areas and the Kenai mainstem. Funding was used to replace an undersized culvert with a culvert that could enable full fish passage. Working in partnership with Trout Unlimited, The Kanai Watershed Forum, USFWS, ADOT, and project contractors, the culvert was replaced with a larger culvert than the ordinary high-water stream width. The stream slope was matched to within one percent of the natural stream bed and the culvert itself now mimics the stream substrate with naturally occurring streambed materials.",
