AYC staff also proposed to translate the MSRP comic book and fish identification card into Mandarin so that the audience would connect better with the outreach materials. AYC staff also planned to educate fishing tackle shop owners and customers about fish contamination issues and safe fishing practices through media outreach and education opportunities at local fishing and tackle shops AYC planned to host family workshops at Central High School, Ynez Elementary School, and Ramona Elementary School. Monthly family workshops were planned to be held at local churches and schools throughout the grant program to educate families and students about fishing and the dangers of contaminated fish.",

      "description": "Asian Youth Center staff distributed the comic book to 951 Chinese families in the large Chinese immigrant community in the San Gabriel Valley during Chinese New Year celebrations. They also distributed 2,000 comic book and fish identification cards at other Chinese community events during the year. Fish contamination materials were presented to 18 local restaurants and seafood markets so business owners could become more aware of contaminated fish. 150 students participated in workshops hosted at Central High School, Ynez Elementary School, and Ramona Elementary School. Monthly workshops were conducted at local churches and school for a total of 7 workshops throughout the grant program. 248 families participated in these workshops.",
