  "projectDescription": "The City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks (LADRP) conducts the Cabrillo Beach Pier Fishing Project (CBPFP) during June/July each year by providing four-hour long sessions for youth ages 6-16 years. The program educates youth about safe fish consumption along the Los Angeles coastline, explains the impact of human activity on the Palos Verdes Shelf (PVS) ecosystem, and provides a safe hands-on fishing experience. Each four-hour session includes four phases: a tour of the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, an educational lesson incorporating games and MSRP outreach materials, a hands-on fishing activity referencing local coastal fish consumption advisories. All participants receive a post survey to assess the knowledge they have gained and their level of enjoyment and interest in future fishing related activities.",
