"projectDescription": "Under the guidance of the Audubon Society, California Conservation Corps crews planted native plants, and installed protective cages around them, as well as drip line irrigation. The purpose was to revegetate the banks of the creek to prevent erosion, and reduce sediment runoff into Dry Creek, located just northeast of the town of Winters in Yolo County, California. The planted material consisted of natives to the region such as toyon, poison oak, valley oaks, pines, elderberry and grass plugs. Planting techniques for valley oaks consisted of both acorns and small trees. Trees and shrubs that were planted had cages placed around them for protection from grazing animals. During and once all vegetation was planted the crew installed a drip irrigation system.",
