"projectDescription": "This project enhanced critical riparian habitat along the Ventura River and Rice Creek, a tributary to the Ventura River, by removing already treated dead Arundo donax and revegetating the site with native plant species. Approximately 3 acres of riparian habitat was restored. Dead Arundo donax was manually removed from all 3 acres of the project area, and removed from the streambanks and floodplain. 1.2 acres was planted with native nursery stock shrub and tree species, as well as planted with mulefat stakes to reduce erosion and sediment delivery. The 1.8 acre area along the former Rice Creek Channel was not revegetated, as OVLC plans to restore this channel in a separate restoration project just after the Arundo biomass has been removed. This proposed project contributed to the watershed-wide removal of Arundo and other non-native plant species, an effort conducted by the Ventura County Watershed Protection District and funded by the California Coastal Conservancy and other agencies.",
