  "projectDescription": "The goal of the restoration effort was to v-notch and release 1.248 million legal size, female lobster.  Delayed harvest from the v-notch is expected to translate to approximately 17 billion eggs required to restore the 9 million lobsters lost due to the oil spill.  Year one purchased, v-notched and released 300,000 lobsters within a 10 mile radius of Pt. Judith Pond, RI.  Due to unexpected problems with this method, an alternative approach was implemented which used commercial lobstermen in the harvesting and release of lobsters, with paid observers onboard the vessels to notch the lobster. In Year 2 approximately 40,000 lobsters were v-notched and released.  Years 2002 - 2005 v-notched and released 212,000; 124,000; 241,000; and 412,000 lobsters respectively.  Approximately 43,000 lobsters were required to be notched in 2006.  The final lobster was notched in early summer of that year.",
