  "projectDescription": "The Oil and Grease Removal Project provided compensatory restoration for the marine resources that were exposed to and/or injured by the Julie N oil spill. The project assisted the City of Portland’s efforts to reduce the discharge of oil and grease to the Fore River and other receiving waters. The Trustees provided $350,000  to the City of Portland for the purchase of a new oil vacuum truck, rehabilitated an existing truck, and purchased other equipment to help reduce the discharge of contaminants into Casco Bay. The equipment purchased with this grant was on display at the dedication ceremony for the Fore River Trail on the fifth anniversary of the oil spill, September 27, 2001. The City of Portland assumed responsibility for operation and maintenance of the capital improvements.",
