  "projectDescription": "Green Valley Creek is one of only five remaining streams in the Russian River drainage where wild juvenile coho are known to exist.  Planning efforts in the Green Valley Watershed revealed that a lack of winter rearing habitat limit the recovery of salmonids in the watershed, particularly in the lower reaches.  The objective of this project was to provide winter rearing and refugia habitat for juvenile salmonids.  A side channel and tributary-confluence alcove complex was constructed to provide a low velocity environment with considerable fixed shelter elements and dense vegetative cover.  Upon maturity, the project will provide the structurally complex vegetated edge habitat needed by juvenile salmon to survive and thrive during winter high flows - habitat once provided by seasonally inundated, floodplain wetlands.  The newly constructed 200 foot long side channel now provide 1.25 acres of floodplain and riparian corridor at the project site.",
