  "projectDescription": "We have expanded a past NOAA-TNC Community Restoration Project to increase our restoration footprint and better assess the restoration of hard-bottom sponge communities. We have: (a) added more restoration sites, (b) broadened the taxonomic diversity of sponges on restoration sites, and (c) expanded our monitoring beyond measures of sponge transplant success to include assessment of the restoration of ecological function, especially as essential nursery habitat for fish and invertebrates. We also will explore the potential for the restoration of reef-dwelling sponges in a preliminary study in collaboration with NOAA supported scientists working on coral restoration along the Florida Keys reef tract.",
