  "projectDescription": "The main objective for the Deer Island Oyster Reef Restoration project was to revitalize an area of oyster reef around Deer Island, on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.  The restored reef was initially proposed to be 5 acres of oyster habitat to benefit eastern oyster populations as well as local sportfish; however, additional funds were available to restore an additional 5 acres of oyster habitat -- a total of 10 acres.  The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources will conduct reef productivity monitoring as part of their shellfish program.",
