  "projectDescription": "Estuarine habitat diversity is critical to the health of many fishery species. In South Carolina, nearshore environments are predominated by mudflat, oyster reef, and saltmarsh habitats. This project restored oyster reef within historically degraded systems known as swashes; estuarine tidal creeks that empty into the ocean over barrier island beaches. This project served as an oyster restoration demonstration project which benefitted local fishery-dependent habitat diversity, improve water quality, and encourage shell recycling. Approximately 0.07 acres of oyster reef habitat were restored through this project.",
