  "projectDescription": "The removal of Hughesville Dam was an important piece of the continued restoration of the Musconetcong River as a free-flowing waterway. The Hughesville Dam became the first downstream blockage on the \"Musky\" up from the Delaware River after the removal of the Finesville Dam a few years earlier. With the completion of the proposed engineering design and permitting, the dam was removed and opened up 5 miles of migratory fish spawning habitat on this National Wild and Scenic River system. The grant award for this project was to complete design/permitting tasks leading to the removal. The agreement specified design to 100% and all permits obtained, but due to the technical difficulties involved in this project, including critical engineering investigations and questions that needed to be addressed, it was determined that additional feasibility studies were needed. The FAF agreement with the Musconetcong Watershed Association (MWA) was then modified to allow additional engineering studies to be performed. The design deliverable was reduced to a 30% completion level and the permitting was deleted as a deliverable all together.",
