  "projectDescription": "Removal of the Pond Lily Dam in West Haven and Woodbridge, CT will enhance access for river herring to 2.6 miles of the West River and 76.2 acres of river herring spawning habitat including Konold's Pond.  The dam was in poor repair and a potential safety hazard to the downstream community of West Haven. NOAA worked collaboratively with Save the Sound/CT Fund for the Environment and other project partners to design, modify the design, and then remove the dam and restore the river channel with conditions allowing diadromous fish passage. USDOI Storm Sandy funds were used to largely cover the costs for dam removal and upstream grade controls.",
