  "projectDescription": "This pilot project tested a coral reef restoration methodology at Mario Reef off of the southwest coast of Puerto Rico.  This restoration technique utilized the natural accretion of inorganic precipitates (such as calcium carbonate) through seawater electrolysis.  This process accretes a mineral rich substrate suitable for coralline red algae and marine invertebrates, such as corals and sponges.  The pilot project went well and the most effective methods for accretion were identified. Monitoring continued through 2003.",
