"projectDescription": "Wilson Cove salt marsh in Norwalk, Connecticut was first identified by the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection in the early 1980s as a test site for tidal wetland restoration within an urban environment. Studies in 1993 determined that there were several other modifications necessary to further restoration efforts. The City of Norwalk partnered with NOAA's Restoration Center, the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Office of Long Island Sound Programs and Wildlife Division, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Restore Americas Estuaries, Save the Sound, Preserve the Wetlands, and local property owners to replace an outlet dike and undersized culvert with an open channel and to install a new culvert under Route 136 in order to reverse long-term habitat degradation through the restoration of tidal flow.",
