  "projectDescription": "NOAA Restoration Center partnered with Friends of the Hylebos Wetlands and community members in a hands-on restoration to enhance salmon habitat through the addition of large woody debris, controlling invasive reed canary grass, and revegetating the wetlands with native plants. The 3 acre stretch of the Hylebos Creek was in poor condition with respect to fish habitat due to invasive blackberries and reed canary grass.  In addition, three concrete retaining walls constricted and controlled stream flow.  Volunteers removed blackberry plants from 600 feet of stream channel, planted native trees and shrubs along the streamside, engineered large woody debris, and log jams into adjacent wetland and stream channels, and removed the concrete retaining walls.",
