  "projectDescription": "The Sawyer Mill Dams Removal project included the feasibility, design and construction phases which removed both dams at the Sawyer Mill complex located on the Bellamy River in Dover, NH.  The lower dam was removed in 2018 and removal of the upper dam was completed in 2020.  Removal of these dams resulted in 1.5  miles of restored diadromous fish access to benefit blueback herring, alewives, and American eels.  Both of the Sawyer Mill dams are classified as high hazard dams by the NH Dam Bureau and posed a threat to public safety in the event of failure during a flood event.  The dams did not serve any power, water supply, or flood control purpose. The presence of the dams disrupted natural stream connectivity and transport processes.",
