  "projectDescription": "Duck Creek is a small coastal stream in Alaska that historically supported runs of chum and Coho salmon until the 1960's. However, due to agricultural development, urbanization, and relocation of the lower channel for an airport development project, habitat quality has sharply declined. With support from the NOAA Restoration Center, volunteers from the Southeast Alaska Guidance Association (SAGA) and Americorps removed fine inorganic sand, organic sediments and gravel from the streambed to restore the best remaining salmon spawning habitat in the creek.",
