  "projectDescription": "This is a native Olympia oyster, Ostrea lurida, restoration project using nonviable oyster shell to augment the amount of hard substrate available for recruiting oyster spat. During the Olympia oyster’s reproductive season, homeowners and school groups will suspend strings of dead oyster shell from floating docks throughout Alamitos Bay, CA and allow locally produced oyster larvae to recruit to the shells. After a grow-out period, the shells from the shell strings will be concentrated into “community” oyster bed at the Jack Dunster Marine Reserve.",
