  "projectDescription": "This project restored 3.46 acres of oyster reef in the Elizabeth and Lafayette Rivers by completing a 3 acre oyster reef in the Elizabeth River and .46 of reef(s) creation in the Lafayette River to promote ongoing spat colonization throughout the watershed. Both reefs will provide critical habitat to more than 20 species of fin fish and 10 species of sportfish.   A total of 3,700 tons of rock was placed over the 3 acres to provide the base material for the oyster shell.  Oyster shell placement began in mid December 2012 and was completed by mid February 2012.",
