  "projectDescription": "The project proposes to create eleven log jams using 260 full length trees along the East Fork Lewis River. The log jams will be installed by a helicopter using trees from a nearby 35 acre timber unit designated specifically for stream restoration projects.  The helicopter will fly full length trees directly from the unit to the river. Full length trees are essential to provide the structural stability in this system. The primary goal of the project is to create spawning areas for ESA listed steelhead trout in a gravel poor system by installing eleven log jams to slow the water & capture mobile spawning gravel.  Pools for rearing juvenile salmonids will also be created by the log jams.",
