"projectDescription": "Fish passage is identified as one of the main limiting factors for Butte Creek, a significant tributary of the John Day River in Eastern Oregon. The three culverts addressed through this project were the only remaining barriers to fish passage on Lower Butte Creek. By replacing culverts with bridges, the Wheeler County Soil and Water Conservation District opened access to 33.2 miles of spawning and rearing habitat for ESA-listed steelhead.",
