"projectDescription": "The Quinault Nation completed construction or stabilization of six log jams to restore island and side channal habitats on the Upper Quinault River floodplain. Past logging has reduced the wood in the river that once stabilized islands and channels, making the channel wide and flat. This project aims to enhance spawning habitat for the Quinault \"blueback\" sockeye salmon, which depend on side channels for spawning. This project is part of a $60 million long-term ecosystem restoration effort led by the Quinault Nation to rebuild sockeye runs.",
