"projectDescription": "This project proposes to protect and promote the population of Atlantic sturgeon and other anadromous fishes through the restoration of hard substrate spawning and nursery habitat through the construction of an artificial spawning reef in the James River. It involved the placement of 2400 tons of broken granite on an area, 300'x70'x2',. It was designed to mimic hard cobble bottom used by spawning sturgeon. Pre-and post-construction monitoring will take place in order to determine how it is being used.",
