Completed in Fall 2013 by the Crooked River Watershed Council and partners, the project removed an impassable barrier and opened up access for migratory fish to 12 miles of high quality habitat in the Lower Crooked River, a tributary to the Deschutes River in Central Oregon.  The Stearns Dam was removed primarily to benefit a reintroduced population of threatened mid-Columbia summer steelhead trout.",
