"projectDescription": "Using NOAA/American Rivers and NOAA/California Coastal Conservancy partnership funding, the County of Ventura completed engineering, design, and installation of a 120-foot clear-span pedestrian and bicycle bridge at the confluence of San Antonio Creek and the Ventura River in Ventura County, CA. The previous concrete crossing severely impaired the ability of endangered Southern California steelhead trout to migrate upstream to an estimated 15 miles of high quality spawning habitat. Replacement of the crossing improves both steelhead passage and public safety/use on the popular bike trail. Construction began in Fall 2011 and the bridge was reopened to the public in March 2012.",
