  "projectDescription": "Restoration Center funding supported feasibility analysis of restoration opportunities at the large historical barrier estuary known as Edmonds Marsh.  Funding in 2013 educated and engaged residents of the Edmonds community, while coordinating with the City of Edmonds to evaluate water flow and acquisition for restoration of willow creek reconnecting Edmonds Marsh to Puget Sound.  Edmonds Marsh was once one of the largest barrier embayments on the now heavily developed Central Puget Sound, and provided forage opportunities for nearshore rearing salmon including ESA-listed Puget Sound Chinook. As of 2022, restoration planning is ongoing with the local Sierra Club advocating for work, but is embroiled in cleanup of a contaminated industrial site in the path of the creek restoration.",
