"projectDescription": "This project involves the removal of the Bartlett Fish Rod Co. Dam located on Amethyst Brook in the Town of Pelham, Massachusetts. The removal opened 0.6 miles of high quality upper perennial river to the next barrier, Orient Spring Dam. This project benefits sea lamprey by improving river spawning (nest building) habitat, as well as other species such as American eel, Eastern brook trout, and slimy sculpin. The dam was removed in late 2012, after which an old timber crib legacy dam was uncovered near the head of the former Bartlett dam impoundment. This structure was also a fish passage barrier and was removed in 2016 (See Timber Dam, record 4583), following Section 106 coordination with MHC using the discovery clause from the previous Section 106 MOA for the Bartlett dam removal.",
