"projectDescription": "The Lower San Luis Obispo Creek Floodplain Preserve Habitat Enhancement project used a combination of manual removal, goat browsing, and herbicide application to eradicate non-native cape ivy across 9.5 acres bordering lower San Luis Obispo Creek in San Luis Obispo County, CA. The project benefits endangered Southern California steelhead trout, as the restoration and re-vegetation of the riparian corridor will help provide shoreline stability, improve water quality, increase shade from large canopy trees, and increase cover available to fish from woody debris and other stream structures. Over 1,100 local volunteers contributed nearly 3500 hours to the non-native removals and riparian re-vegetation efforts. The project site will be monitored using both photo points and CRAM evaluation. Nearby and with Recovery Act funding, California Conservation Corps crews cut down roughly 64 Arundo stands covering an area of 0.5 miles of San Luis Obispo Creek.",
