  "projectDescription": "After a long and detailed feasibility, design and permitting phase, removal of the Exeter Great Dam was completed in the fall of 2016.    The project resulted in the full removal of the existing dam, fish ladder and concrete weir associated with the fish ladder.  Benefits included enhanced fish passage, reduced flood elevations in downtown Exeter and restored fluvial geomorphic processes.  The project included a variety of activities including dam removal, invasive species control, debris removal, channel restoration, bank restoration and erosion reduction.",
