  "projectDescription": "The Florida Department of Environmental Protection restored 8.03 acres of degraded dune habitat (dune wash-out and blow-out areas) using native vegetation.  Different vegetation experiments were used to better understand what planting combinations worked best to stabilize the dunes, and prevent wind blown sand deposition on the adjacent seagrass beds.  Restoration of floral diversity enhanced the area's ability to recover from disturbance events.  Restoration of the area also improved habitat for nesting sea turtles. Numerous local schools were engaged to propagate and plant the vegetation.  The University of Florida continues to monitor experimental plots.",
