  "projectDescription": "The main objective of this project was to create four oyster reefs near the Evans-Crary Bridge in the St. Lucie Estuary (SLE) in Stuart, FL and two control oyster reefs in Indian River Lagoon (IRL) in Ft. Pierce, FL (see RCDB #2491).  Two of the reefs in the SLE and one reef in the IRL  each were seeded with oyster larvae inside containment booms to jumpstart their propagation.  The seeding of these reefs helps to create a more stable seed source.  Along with restoring oyster reefs and their associated species, the project enabled us to determine if this restoration approach would work in an area where oysters and their substrate have been completely obliterated with little or no available seed source.",
